Real Stories of Hope this Week
Wow, we really are in the thick of it, aren't we? Right now, there is definitely tension in the air and for a good reason.
But I want to share how some of my clients and brand partners are making the best of a bad situation. Read the stories below and then ask yourself....
How can I turn this bad situation into something meaningful in my own life?
How can I be innovative and pivot so that I can still earn a living doing work I love?
How can I use my gifts to serve others?
Here are some inspiring stories of innovate creators who are growing their brand (yes even now!) and serving their communities.
Lauren Castellano
Lauren works full time in the finance industry. She's also an artist who has dreamed of producing income though her creative work. Lauren's co-workers have always admired her art and encouraged her to do more with it. This week, noticing that her co-workers needed a place to relax and connect, Lauren created a virtual class based off their needs.
Knowing that not everyone has art supplies (or the budget to get these items) she created a class that anyone could do. Lauren's first digital course is called Painting Flowers with Food Colors.
Barr Hill Gin
This Vermont based company (whom I had the pleasure of partnering with a few summers ago) has had to close its doors temporarily due to the Coronavirus, but they are still pitching in to use the resources they have to help our community. Knowing that health care workers are in desperate need of hand sanitizer, they created a brand-new product.
Each purchase will go directly to a healthcare worker. Caledonia Spirits is currently making another 1,500 units for first responders and the State of Vermont will be paying for the raw materials. Read more about their efforts in this article from USA Today.
Sue Henry
When Sue, founder of Tulusa, heard there was a shortage of masks for our healthcare professionals she quickly took action and turned her studio into a mini mask-making factory. Sue is in the process of dropping off hundreds of masks to civil servants and to the local homeless shelter.
If you'd like to help Sue deliver more free masks, buy one yourself. By supporting Sue's business, you'll support her mask-making efforts. I mean if you have to wear a mask, might as well make it a happy one.
Margo Tantau
Margo wasn't intending to build her email list, she just wanted to connect with other creatives during the lock down. What she didn't anticipate is that over 400 people would respond, thus taking her official email list from zero to 400+
