Frequently Asked Questions

Who will be at this retreat?

This retreat is open to anyone interested in cultivating a deep connection with their creative force and people who are eager to enjoy a new culture.

Is this retreat for me?

You WILL LOVE THIS IF YOU..

  • Crave some quiet time to engage in your art practice.

  • Are open to new cultures and experiences outside of your normal everyday experience.

  • Are ok with the noises of Mexico- including fireworks, dogs barking and the occasional rooster crowing.

  • Are happy to share space with fellow artists and creatives.

  • Are able to walk on uneven cobble stone streets and climb stairs in the retreat house.

NOT FOR YOU IF…

  • You aren’t super flexible. You prefer a set schedule.

  • You have noise sensitivities. Mexico is a noisy place. Fireworks, chickens, dogs barking, construction. You will most likely hear these sounds, sometimes all at once!

  • You have physical limitations that would impede you from walking on uneven paths.

  • You have a lot of diet restrictions.

How many people will attend this retreat?

We love small groups. This intimate Retreat is limited to 10 including me your hosts (Kimberly and Desha).

How do I get to San Miguel?

You can fly into either Queretaro or Leon and a private group shuttle will transport you to our retreat house. From Queretaro it’s about an hour and fifteen minutes and from Leon it’s about an hour and 30 mins. Airfare is not included in the price of the retreat.

Is San Miguel safe?

San Miguel attracts lots of American and Canadian Expats and is rated the #1Travel destination by Conde Taste. As a place that thrives on tourism, San Miguel is considered a safe place. Desha been traveling there with her daughter for the past 11 years (since she was 5yrs old). Use caution like you would in any place.

Weather / What should I pack?

You will receive a detailed pre-departure guide before the retreat with packing suggestions. The weather in March will be sunny and warm with temperatures in the low 80’s during the day. Bring a hat and sunscreen. Mornings and evenings are cool, so bring layers. The streets are lined in uneven cobblestones, comfy shoes with a rubber sole are best.

Art Supplies

RGS will provide a complimentary sketchbook, perfect for jotting down your impressions and capturing the light and color of this beautiful city. We ask that you bring your own art supplies. Upon registration, you will receive a detailed list of recommendations including an easel set-up, palette, mediums, brushes, surfaces, and tips on how to carry your artwork home safely.

Can we talk about covid?

Things are ever-evolving, but at this time Mexico is open to travel and the CDC recommends that you are fully vaccinated.
